Business Associate Agreement (BAA)
A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is a legal document required by HIPAA that explains how Syntry Health protects your patients’ health information. Viewing this page does not sign the agreement. All users are required to sign the BAA before using Syntry. Below is the full text of our current BAA for your reference.

1. Definitions
HIPAA: The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, and its implementing regulations.
PHI: Protected Health Information, including individually identifiable health information transmitted or maintained in any form or medium.
Business Associate: SyntryHealth, which provides AI-powered medical documentation services.
2. Obligations of SyntryHealth
- Use or disclose PHI only as permitted by this Agreement or required by law.
- Implement safeguards to protect PHI.
- Report any breach of PHI within 15 business days.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with these terms.
3. Permitted Uses and Disclosures
- Provide AI-assisted documentation and decision support.
- De-identify PHI only if permitted in writing.
4. Prohibited Uses and Disclosures
- No marketing or advertising use.
- No sale or monetization of PHI.
- No use outside service scope.
5. Reporting and Mitigation
Notify Covered Entity of breach within 15 days. Cooperate with investigation or mitigation.
6. Term and Termination
Agreement is active until terminated. Covered Entity may terminate on breach. PHI will be destroyed or protected if retention is required.
7. Compliance
SyntryHealth will comply with HHS reviews, HIPAA training, and documentation requirements.
8. Miscellaneous
Governing law: [Your jurisdiction]. Changes require mutual agreement. Invalid parts do not affect the remainder.
